With an industrial piercing, the upper edge of the auricle and the lower edge are pierced. After piercing, both piercing holes are connected with a long barbell. This trendy piercing is also sometimes known as a scaffold piercing. The industrial piercing jewelry is available in many different designs and colors.

Getting an industrial piercing - this is how it works

As with other piercings, industrial piercings should only be done in a professional piercing studio. Getting a piercing done in a jewelry store or similar is not recommended, as the employees there often do not have the necessary experience or the right tools. If you are interested in getting a scaffold piercing, you can, for example, use Google reviews of a piercing studio to find out in advance whether previous customers were satisfied. You should also be given advice on site and explained to you how to properly care for the piercing sites after the piercing.

The actual piercing of the ear is relatively simple and usually only takes a few minutes. Before the tissue is pierced, the surface of the skin is disinfected and the two points for the piercing are marked with a pen. The skin is then either pierced with a hollow needle or punched out with a so-called dermal punch. Punching offers the advantage that the wound usually heals faster and the formation of so-called wild flesh is less common.

Industrial Piercing

Industrial Piercing Jewelry - many designs and colors available
As with almost any other piercing jewelry, numerous pieces of jewelry are available for industrial piercings in many different colors and designs.

If you prefer a more subtle look, go for classic barbell piercings with a ball closure ring in silver. If, on the other hand, you want something a little more eye-catching, an industrial piercing chain might be the right piercing jewelry for you. With such models, a chain connects the upper and lower ends of the piercing, which makes for an additional eye-catcher. In addition to single-colored models, we also have numerous colorful industrial piercings in our online shop, where, for example, the ball closure rings are in bright colors. There are also models with beautiful decorative crystals, which are often attached in the middle of the barbell bar or on the closure balls.

Industrial piercing is infected - what to do?

If one or both piercing sites become infected, you should see a doctor. An antibiotic is often prescribed. You should also check whether you are allergic to certain metals. In this case, wound healing is made even more difficult. You can recognize an allergic reaction by itchy and/or dry, flaky skin, among other things. Such a reaction usually occurs 1-2 days after piercing. Piercings made of titanium and surgical steel are particularly suitable for allergy sufferers. In the first few weeks after piercing, you should clean the piercing sites daily with a suitable piercing care product.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an industrial piercing cost?
Because two holes have to be pierced for an ear piercing, the price is usually higher than for a tragus piercing, for example. The cost of an industrial piercing in most studios is between €70 and €100. This price often includes the first piece of jewelry. Sometimes a care product for the subsequent wound care is also included in the price.

How is the industrial piercing done?
An industrial piercing can be punched either with a dermal punch or with a hollow needle. With the dermal punch method, the skin is punched out and the hole usually does not close up. However, the puncture site usually heals much faster with this method than with a hollow needle.

When can I change my industrial piercing?
While you can change the piercing jewelry after 3 - 4 weeks with other piercings such as a helix piercing, with an industrial piercing it usually takes 6 - 10 weeks after the piercing until the puncture sites have completely healed and the jewelry can be changed.

How long does it take until everything has healed?
The healing of the wound depends on the piercing method and the individual tissue structure and care of the piercing site. Piercing holes that are punched using the dermal punch procedure usually heal much faster than piercings that are pierced with a hollow needle. With the dermal punch procedure, you can expect the wound to heal completely within 2 to 4 weeks. With piercings that are pierced with a hollow needle, however, the wound healing can take up to 6 months. Depending on the individual case, however, the time may be shorter.
